last tuesday i went on the most beautiful hike i've been on in switzerland, valle verzasca. we crossed streams, meandered in and out of the forest, and strolled by quaint little cottages, all of which ross promised to buy me when he became rich, as long as i promised to let him use them for love shacks. ew.
i tried my hand at tennis and really, i see in myself the makings of a great tennis player.
took a group of kids to a bird show on friday. and there was only one way to describe the look on luigi's (italy) face: enchanted.
my class this session is the exact opposite of my last class: awesome. they behave like human beings! we have a good time! i don't want to pull out their eyelashes! but their puppet show was crap. we won't be winning any awards (real or otherwise) with it, but i don't care!

(hmmm...actually,maybe there's something wrong with them. the photographer had just told them to "act crazy!" look at that front row of russians and germans let their hair down...especially louis the angry german "i show you crazy")

ahh, that's better.
ross and i abused my connection in the office to ensure that we are assigned as dinner table partners every week. chicken and potatoes every day is actually fun now.
i went on an overnight trip to andermatt, just got back today. i bonded with anachiara (usa), timur (russia) and sam (slovakia) and did some scary things. i walked on a glacier. this may not seem scary, but when you have an overactive imagination, it is. the glacier did not swallow me and i even climbed up one of its walls. i see in myself the makings of a great ice climber. so fun. then we hiked a very steep trail to a hut (all the while telling the italians to STAY ON THE TRAIL!!) where we slept. well, where masa slept and the rest of us tried to sleep in spite of his snoring. during my sleepless night, i learned two very important things: i will never marry a man that snores and i have self-control greater than i thought, because masa made it through the night alive. today i did another scary thing: rock climbing. it was not actually that fun and i will never do it again, but the important thing is i conquered my fear. also, i ate lots of sandwiches, which is always the best part of our trips.

sunday was swiss national day. we rent a boat, cram 120 middle schoolers on it, and have one rockin' dance party. oh, and there's fireworks. everyone dressed up but me.

because i can only do my best dance moves when i'm wearing my pink floyd tee.

see?
i was festive for a while, though. so was will.

brett and i (unintentionally, of course) wore matching v-neck tees to staff bowling night. when i pointed it out to him, he said, "yeah, i noticed we were both sporting the deep v. on you, it's ok. on me, slightly gay." i laughed for literally minutes at that one.

one night, while chatting it up and having a great time with my new dinner table, olena (ukraine) said to me, "you look like a very happy person."
she's right...and is there any wonder why?
